Hi I've noticed some free play in the steering wheel when driving straight line and I've checked the rack ends and they seem ok.. Also I've checked the column which has abit of free play in the telescopic arm but nothing major and so I wondering if it's the worm gear in the rack??

I've heard there's a preload adjuster bolt that u can can tighten is there or will I need a new steering rack?

I have the electric rack if it helps.

I have the same problem. Mechanics I've been at said i should get used to the sound my steering rack does on bumpy road, untill the rack will be completely gone and I'll have to replace this with a new and expensive one.
