Headlight assist

Featured Replies

My headlight assist sometimes flags up to clean the screen, now that may be normal, but when it tells you to do it whilst driving with my wipers on through torrential rain indicates to me a bit of a fault, would I be right in thinking so or is it just a stupid design? It also comes on even when I'm driving through a street with street lights and choses when it wants to go off for oncoming cars, often I need to turn the main beam off myself!

I'm not even sure if I have headlight assist, I never drive at night, sorry. Which models does it appear in?

Mines is a 1.6 tdi elegance as well, think I'll phone skoda tomorrow and book it in.

It sounds like there might be a problem, perhaps misaligned camera or dirty behind the glass where the camera is fitted.

I dont have it on the Octavia but light assist on my other car (4-years old) works very well & I rarely have to intervene but it does have active xenon lights which draws a dark box round oncoming cars rather than turning off the lights completely..

Ok so a follow up to this over a year later! Skoda have replaced the sensor 4 times and have now carried out a wiring loom repair as well. I collected the car yesterday  (18/10/2017) and it worked fine for a few hours then ping headlight assist fault! This will now be visit number 5 for the same issue!

They also removed my dashboard to check the wiring loom for further issues and found nothing! So getting a bit peeved that it's now going onto a 5th sensor! Thinking of just telling them to deactivate it and I'll just use the high beam like a normal car lol.

Let's see what they have to say when I phone later today.

Hello,

It's 2025 and I’m getting this message in my Octavia. Only had it a few weeks. 2020 plate. Does anyone know where the sensor is?

Behind the interior mirror.

O dear. That’s where I’ve mounted the dash cam. That’s probably why it’s giving me the message.
