superb intercooler? mod friendly?

Featured Replies

hi all,

finally picked up my superb TDI130 today. rocks!

met up with phillk (a.k.a. richard hammond's younger brother!) and compared engines - his fabia vrs has the intercooler mounted on the engine bay side of the passenger wheelarch, so he's done a nice little mod that puts vents in the wheelarch liner to cool it down: free, and it works without buying the audi TT vent. looking at my superb's engine bay where the lump's mounted transversely, rather than longitudinally, we couldn't work out where under the plastic the intercooler's mounted, although i did notice in the passenger side wheelarch there seems to be some sort of blanking plate.

anyone know for sure where the intercooler is? if it's next to the arch, anyone tried venting it for extra cooling? will go peeling back wheelarch linings when the weather's better but if anyone's already done it, it'd save me some swearing...

cheers!

the intercooler is down the front under the passenger headlamp if you squat down and look thru bumper grill you should be able o just see it.

reckon the pikey mod of venting the arch would help cool it down in this position on the superb? the fabia guys seem to swear by it. there's an oval blanking plate in approx the position you'd vent a fabia wheelarch on mine, was wondering if this was something that other variants (2.5TDI?) had a vent installed in? any advice appreciated...
