dsg 7 1.6 tdi whining noise

Featured Replies

Hi forum ,

My 1.6 tdi dsg 7 developed a whining noise when shifting gears .

-intermittent

-not always in the same gears

-always when up-shifting

-car is only 3 months old

-noise first appeared after 10k km !

Do I need to start to worry ??

I will see if I can make a video of it ( intermittent !! ) .

It is a whining noise which not only appears intermittent but also is not related to the speed of acceleration ( so rather torque related ).

Another problem is clutch-judder when moving from halt ...................( I remember that from 30 years ago when I was driving a rover metro )

I don't expect a modern high-end car to suffer from a problem that was solved in the past century :-)

I also noticed that the dsg7 has a severe problem with traffic-jams , the problems do get worse after an hour or so ..................

mostly I spend 1,5 hours in start-stop traffic every evening :-((

anyone facing the same problems

km up to 20k right now

car has been inspected by the dealer ,

30.000 + km in 5 months , and the whining goes worse .

Also clutch judder has become worse ........................looks like a 85 mini whilst in traffic .

They are going to discuss this with the distributor .

Ill keep you informed.

addition ,

now had an UN-engaging cluth for 2 times when moving from halt ( engine to 5000 revs befor ethe clutch engaged with a loud bang ).

Also had a "banging clutch " when acceleratin out of a bent ( about 5 kmh so not a full stop , then accelerating to 50 kmh ) , clutch "banged" 4 times .

garage can not find "any problems"  and i don;t have my dashcam on all time too.

any way vcds can generate a logfile to see the problems ??

Why not enable your dash cam for all the time you are driving, and that way it will be easier to catch the issue on video.
