Raised idle in hot weather

Featured Replies

Anybody else noticed that the idle increases when the air con is working hard?

This past week when I have been leaving work the car has been idling at 1K for the first few miles. The first time it did it I thought it was doing a regen, but I called off at the supermarket and was surprised to hear no fans running like they usually do when you interrupt a regen. I then drove a few more miles to pick my daughter up and still the idle was still rasied but no tell tale signs of doing a regen.

So after the next few days I realised its maybe to help the air con when sat in traffic when the inside of the car is particularly hot.

?

So did you switch off the AC to confirm you were correct?

No, i needed all the AC i could get but its on my to-do list.

It hasn't done it today or yesterday but I'v been off work so the car wasn't as hot inside as it lives under the car port.
