Service Reminder Letter

Featured Replies

My mother received this letter from the main dealer as a reminder that a service was due.

It could be just me but the light-hearted tone of the letter didn't make it sound professional.

Its just you   I find that quite refreshing rather than the usual boring droll monotone version that normally would arrive.

^^^ Agreed.

Job done, it caught your attention, many just never read the whole letter.

PR people love pish like that.

I used to do a lot of work for a motor dealers in Dundee. The MD used to come up with 'wacky' marketing ideas all the time. Most usually following holidays to the USA. The ****e he came out with was unreal. They still have pish adverts on the radio now so I guess he's still at it.

We get reminders for a citigo we sold over a year ago... :dull:

Makes a nice change I suppose.

That is until you queue for 15 minutes when collecting the car, discover the coffee machine is on the blink, the wifi is off-line, they couldn't find the dash rattle (or more likely never even bothered trying to find it), left greasy finger prints on the drivers door, forgot to check for the software update you'd asked them to look at, left the radio turned on and really loud, adjusted the drivers seat position, didn't get time to hoover it and left dirty streaks on the windscreen from the 34 second jet wash and finally charging you £259 for a variable service which consisted of only an oil and filter change.

Re-reading the letter when getting home you decide it really isn't very humorous at all.

I chuckled at that, thanks.

Apologies to any hard-working PR peeps reading...

Haven't they missed out the bit about their fitters will only change the complete parts as per Skoda ,not just the bits that go faulty .( e.g. on a PD, if the flexible return pipe is cracked, they won't just change the 6" bit of pipe ,cost about 50p, they'll insist on changing the complete under bonnet fuel pipe system, cost, about £160 + 2 hrs labour. ). neither, I notice, do they mention that if you get a quote from an indie staffed by also Master Techs, and it's lower, they might be inclined to match it to get your custom .

My partner just looked at the 'pish' and wondered if that's a gender-specific mailing?

"I would take my car to them (if you didn't look after it for me)" she just uttered, to my slight amazement.

Any fellas seen the same thing addressed to them?

I've just re read the ad and noticed the wash & vac ,and what I was told, a FREE health check. Possibly I'd hurt their profit margins on a cambelt change ,by showing them what Ally at unit18 charges , but I had mine done at Ally's rates ,but no free wash etc
