wheel bearing replacement

Featured Replies

Hi can anyone please give me an idea on wheel bearing change costs

Front, Rear?

IIRC, at my local dealer a front one was about £200 inc. the bearing and VAT.

I had a front wheel bearing done not so long back and cost me £130 . Found it it wasn't the wheel bearing but both rear tyres sawtoothing :/

How did that get diagnosed? Not even the right end of the car lol

There was a intermittent  whining noise from the rear of my 06 octy , thought it was a bearing , so got one intending to do it myself it cost  £100 approx. (Hub and bearing ) but then had a puncture,  changed wheel then noise gone , it was the Dunlop tyre making the noise on some road surfaces.

Wheel bearings are fairly easy to do on the drive I did a rear on my vrs when the abs ring failed as it's part of the bearing,

Bearing from euros £70

Remove disc from said wheel

Remove bearing cap with screwdriver

M14 splined socket and 3ft breaker bar

When m14 bolt removed bearing simply falls off

Reverse to fit new bearing

It's the torque that's mental on the rear. 180 Nm plus 180 degrees iirc.
