2012 Octavia 2ltr TDi cambelt failure @ 19000 mls !

Featured Replies

In last weekends Daily Telegraph (sat 16/7/16) in the motoring 'honest john' section, there was a letter from DG that said their 2ltr 2012 Octavia TDi had broken its cambelt at 19000 miles and its only 4 years old ! the first 3 services were carried out by a main dealer and the last one was by an independent garage, the main dealer then quoted £6500 to rebuild the engine, which engine could this have been and is it common as I have a 2ltr TDi ? It is also very low mileage for it to break the cambelt so could something else contibute to it going ? cheers Stuart

Belts should be replaced on a time basis to (although a 2012 would be 5 years).

A full Skoda service history probably would have got some contribution from Skoda.
