Tuning boxes...

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Ive being looking at loads of threads about tuning boxes, but cant find what i need to know. These boxes.. do they come with a 1 map for all , or can they rolling road it to your car specifically? 1 of these would be great for me as i do intend on telling my insurance (just in case) but not my dealer for warrenty issues , plus my car is on lease. It seems from reading threads this is the only reliable way of doing this, so if i do have to visit the dealer i can just unplug and no ones the wiser.

Thanx for reading this:D all help is appreciated:thumbup:

Tuning boxes are generic to the vehicle type & cannot be set up on a RR. A simple plug & play device.

Although some can ;) Like Bromley's Tunit :D

But the majority are though. ;)

ok...so whats the best way to go? i kinda figured the best route to go was a rollin road re-map, can i still do this, and still have the option of easy removal should i need to visit a dealer. Or should i go down the Tuning box route? ......

Thanx again:thumbup:

There is the "one click" from AMD option or dual system - do a search for loads of info

Are you planning any other mods???

If not a digital tuning box will offer good value for money or best bang for buck to coin a well used phrase!

Go for a box. You can sell that on, after you get shut of the car. If you get a re-map, its gonna cost you to remove it. The 'One - Click' is user - reversable, but you can't retro - sell it, 'cause its coded to the car's engine and therefore U / S with any other vehicle.

I've bought one of these

http://www.pbox.cc/

Keeps wheel-spinning in third, the only known problem. You do have to pussy foot around with the greasy roads at the moment

Did you buy it direct form the company in the link? If so how much was it? and did you fit it yourself? simple plug in like the tuning box?

Came off a 150 TDI Golf ( same box for all PD )

It just plugs in and two wires onto the battery terminals. The quality of the loom and connections are excelent, the electronics are set in resin, inside the plastic box so nothing to come un-soldered. You can get an additional switch to switch it off when not required.

Thanks,

I think I might try to source a second hand one of these or a tuning box.

No, have to disagree, an analogue tuning box will give "best bang for buck"

Mine only cost
