Are mk1 and mk2 hubs the same

Featured Replies

Will the hubs from a 2006 vrs fit a 2012 Fabia?

Basically my mk2 has fs11 calipers so not much can be done, it needs discs and pads so instead of replacing them I was thinking maybe fit some bigger hubs with 312 brakes already fitted.

I think so mate, here are part numbers for 2012 (item 8 or 8A) and 2006 (item 7 or 7A).  Some overlap of part numbers, suggesting that the struts and steering joints will bolt up fine.

Are you sure you mean FSII, not FSIII, what diameter are the discs?

I see PR code 1LB listed for hub 6q0407255AG/256AG in 2006, but nothing for 1LB in 2012, and I thought 1LB meant 239mm discs/FSII calipers (cos that's what is on the missus's car).

I haven't checked them 100%, just looked through the wheel and was disappointed to see the brackets for the pads built into the hub, so nothing can be done about swapping to bigger calipers.

Thanks for checking though, good help :)

Do you know what year the Golf is?

Its mk4, so around 2002 to 2006, lets say 2004 :D

I think what you'll be getting is 1J0 407 255AH, and 256AH then, from here, 1st pair of item 8As.  All the bearing carrier part numbers start 1J, so I'm not sure these are shared with Fabia. The pictures look slightly different where the tie-rod ends attach?

Golf ones won't fit, different platform.

Ah, problem them :D

One less thing to worry about for now i guess.

Thanks again both of you.

Looking to do this very soon.

Does anyone els have any input if MK1 vrs hubs will fit a mk2 platform?

I've got someone local with a set from a 2006 vrs and wanting them for my 2012 Fabia.

Just in case .... I'm actually after the ones from the mk1 vrs, the ones that you're thinking about buying. If it turns out they won't fit your mk2, I'd very much like the opportunity to buy them :)

I guess I'll let you know.

Going to collect them Monday :)

Pretty sure the hubs will fit no problem.

Yes they are the same part.

Thank you both once again, I was confident they would fit but just one of them things if no one els has.

I'm paying £100 for a set complete with calipers etc so not cheap but have warranty if they don't fit.

New bearings are another £100.

Will just live with the brakes for a few weeks or replace with pagid or something budget worst case!
