Fitting instructions needed

Featured Replies

Hey,

I've just had a strut brace delivered, and have searched everywhere on the site to get fitting instructions but the only guide I found doesn't work anymore.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks

It's fairly easy even a numpty like me can do it.

Undo the bolts on the top of the turret (two either side iirc) line the sturt brace up and redo the bolts up.

You may need a hand pulling it into place and I think they need to be tighten up with a torque wrench, but I cant remember the correct amount.

remove the 2 inside strut bolts on the right hand side (looking at the car)

then remove the acumilator on the left side 3 bolts

then remove the 2 bolts on the strut top same as right side

fit then reverse

then remove the acumilator on the left side 3 bolts

opps forget about that bit! :o becareful not to drop the nuts as the bottom ones are a bu99er

the torque setting is 15nm + 1/4 turn

Cheers

the torque setting is 15nm + 1/4 turn

Or 25Nm ;)

Chris

they are stretch bolts so 15nm + 1/4 turn :P

you are supposed to replace the bolts when you remove them too

leave car on ground make sure its flat ground and hat wheels are straight.

undo the 2 inside bolts on each strut top. slide foot of brace under coolant sensor wire. refit the 4 bolts to 25nm which isnt very tight at all. and jobs done.

if you look at the ibiza mk4 forum on seatcupra.net theres a guide on there. Its not difficult.#

takes 5 minutes tops.

If you need an air filter change soon do it now before you bolt the strut brace up as it becomes a bu66er to change with it on :D

All done, thanks guys I've taken some photos (see below) which show as I went along where the bolts were removed and then placed back. The bolts weren't all that tight as my mate took them off without his torque wrench and then we put them back with one at 20Nm.

Pic 1: Right hand side strut bolts removed

Pic 2: Left hand side strut bolts removed underneath the acumilator or whatever it was called before (???)

Pic 3: right hand side with brace in place

Pic 4: Mate getting hands dirty taken for the sake of it really but it's a tight squeeze when getting the bolts back in.

Pics taken on W800i camera phone so sorry for quality I have full size pics taken on digital camera if needed.

Cheers for your help

And completed it looks like this:
