Oil on rubber boot liner.

Featured Replies

I've had a wee accident with some oil in my boot. Basically I had roughly 1L left in a bottle of oil and the lid has come off, thankfully the car has the factory rubber boot liner so the actual carpet was well protected and all my stuff in the boot soaked up the worst of the oil.

I've taken the liner out at the local jet wash and brushed it down with their "hot" foam brush but it's still quite greasy to the touch so I'm wondering what the folks of briskoda would recommend for removing the remainder of the oil?

I was going to try fairly liquid but forgot to take it up with me. The jet wash wasn't hot as it's supposed to be so that rules out heat unless I go a 20mile round trip to another jet wash.

Would something like gunk be of use here? I'm not sure how that would react with the rubber though.

Cheers

Richie.

Use a strong dose of APC brushed on,then rinse, should sort it.

If the all purpose cleaner doesn't shift it then look at a specific degreaser like Bilt Hamber Surfex HD. Good luck!

Ended up going into halfords but couldn't find any decent degreasers so I got an APC from some shop the Mrs dragged me into.

I also saw the White meguiars wash mitt on a special at £8.79 and got 3 as halfords are doing 3 for 2 just now. Was told by the guy on the till that the £8.79 was an old price and wouldn't get 3 for 2 but he put it though anyway so I got 3 of them for £19.78. Pretty happy with that seeing as mine seem to go missing.

Cheer mate, I'll try that if the APC doesn't work. I'm using the car without the liner and the boot carpet is immaculate so want to get it back I asap.
