drivers winodw

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

been a while since i have posted on here !

At the weekend the drivers window kept jittering, so i sprayed silicone spray in the runners and eventually (by chance) it stopped for 1 operation so i could reset the windows (hold down 5 secs hold up 5 secs) this had cured everything and the one touch for full up or down operation worked fine, however now its rained overnight, it doesn't work at all off the button, I've tried the putting the key in the door to lock and unlock, and holding it to make the window go down and up (this was successful) but still nothing off the button.

I'm guessing that this means the switch is broken, because if it was the wiring to the door then it wouldn't operate on the key?

Cheers everyone,

Any thoughts appreciated

:)

Sounds about right yeah. :)

I've taken the switch out and taken it to bits, the two copper contact plates were slightly corroded/ mis coloured, tried to clean up and put back together, it didn't really work, had my tea went out to try again and they worked perfectly.... I've ordered a new switch for £9.90 delivered off eBay! Don't want to be stuck with windows down in this weather !

I noticed the same on mine when the passenger window stopped working off the switch, i removed it to find the pins green and fluffy, cleaned them up but think it has had it really.

Im guessing its its due to water getting in, i noticed yesterday if the window is down slightly and been raining, when you go round a corner a waterfall comes in and lands directly onto the window switches!

I'll get some wind deflectors fitted to sort that anyway :D

I had deflectors on, and I think made things worse, occasionally the window would catch on the deflector (they were heko ones so not bad quality) and ever since then I've been hadving minor issues and now it's become a problem so I've binned mine! Also I found that the water on the roof would drip after setting off (with window down) onto the switches so I don't think they stop it much TBH.

My pins and contacts weren't green (green on copper is a sign of water) they were brown ish coloured showing its been arcing leading me to think it's goosed now, hopefully new switch is due Monday, but for no reason the switch works fine... For now
