Upholstery damage help needed! !

Featured Replies

Hi,

A friend of mine kindly left a cigarette burn in the passenger seat of my citigo while. It is on the bottom/seat part of the chair and burned through to the foam underneath, very visable.

I am hoping to take my skoda back to the dealer soon to exchange but want to figure out the beSt thing to do... They gave me a guaranteed risidual value on PCP/finance, so not sure if I should try and get it patched/fixed and hope they don't notice or just be honest and have them do it properly. Just unsure how much that would cost, worried it would be very expensive or make a massive difference to my value.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum, maybe best price up a new seat bottom.

Then check out Ebay and Car Breakers,

maybe post a wanted in the Briskoda adverts with a picture of which material you are after.

There are plenty of car seat repair firms,Chips Away,Car Medic etc out there for you to try.Get your seat repaired and give the bill to your friend!.

either that or make them walk next time :)

You actually allow people to smoke cigarettes in your car?

According to British Car Auctions, cars that have been smoked in are devalued by at least 10% on resale.

as opposed to smoking a fish?  :D

Surely your friend would be happy to pay for a completely new seat as necessary?

Don't mean to sound harsh, but why would you allow smoking in your car? It's disgusting and ruins the resale value, and I've heard smoking is really bad for you, it even says so on the packs apparently! :)

Nearly a week since the original question was asked and no response to the replies.

Maybe the same passenger repeated the same course of action and the car has fully combusted?

Maybe the driver smokes too and doesn't want to be lambasted about it?

Quite likely. How many non-smokers these days would countenance a smoking passenger.

I'll re-phrase that...a passenger who smokes.  As opposed to a passenger in the early stages of spontaneous combustion.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spontaneous_human_combustion
