Strange noise when turning right on Fabia

Featured Replies

I have a strange noise coming from left wheel when turning right. There is strange thing If the car is on neutral everything is normal. I hear simular sound when I drive the car in low rpm 50km/h in 4-th gear. The car is Skoda Fabia 1.9TDI ! Any help?

What sort of noise is it? Grinding, knocking etc? Is it rythmical or sporradic?

Common noises are ball joints, track rod ends or cv joints.

Or perhaps front left wheel bearing???

Although when I had one start to go on my Mk 1 Fabia 1.4tdi, it was rumbling all the time, not just when turning.......

It's sounds like grinding noise but it comes only when driving and turning right or driving uphill and only when car is in some gear. When gearbox is neutral position in same condition everything is fine with the car and there is no noise coming from front left side of the car!

Probably not a balljoint or tr end then...

What sort of mileage is on the car?

Possibly wheel bearing, cv or driveshaft. If you know any nice local garages they should be able to diagnose easily. Bit difficult to diagnose without hands on as there are quite a few components thst make similar noises when they start to fail.

You could regrease the cv and check the boot for tears or cracks etc. Quick easy job.

This and CV boots (then the joint itself) usually fails due to the boot getting ripped, which isn't actually a function of vehicle mileage or age.

Wheel bearing is changed before 5000km. I don't think that wheel bearing is causing that noise. Maybe driveshaft, i will know only when i change drive shaft. If wheel bearing is causing that noise, i will hear no matter car is on neutral or in some gear!
