Columbus removal

Featured Replies

Read various posts and watched you tube videos on removing the Columbus unit but am still unsure when it comes to disconnecting airbag light.

Don't want to induce a fault. Am I ok to disconnect it with keys out of ignition, would have thought so, or does the battery need to be disconnected too?

Thanks

I've had no errors disconnecting it while the keys are out of the ignition. It is just the warning light to tell people the passenger airbag is turned off rather than an airbag failure warning light. The important thing is to be careful not to pull the wires too much when you're taking the fascia off. Also make sure the wires don't fall back in behind the console after you unplug the light.

Perfect thanks I'm sure nothing can go wrong!

If you don't turn the ignition on with the light disconnected then you'll be okay. If you do turn the ignition on then you'll get an airbag fault.

You can actualy remove the unit, without disconecting the wires from the airbag light , just gently lower the facia out the way, the light is only held in by 2 clips if you want to remove it
