Hey, I said hello earlier in the welcome section and have been sifting through the search results for answers to my questions.

I was wondering if anyone can confirm my answers.

The car is a 2011 vrs petrol with a Tsi engine and the code ccz on a sticker on the timing cover. Yet all the paper work says tfsi and when you do a reg search it comes up with tfsi... Ive noticed this is just what happens but Why is this?

Is it worth putting it in to skoda asap and getting the timing chain tensioner replaced with the latest revision? If so whats the average price for having it supplied and fitted?

Am i correct in saying that i can remove the current miltek exhaust and fit a standard exhaust. Then mate a miltek downpipe and sports cat to the standard exhaust to contribute towards a stage 2 remap? I have a young son so i dont want much exhaust noise.

TSI and TSFI are just marketing terms used for the same thing.  The older belt driven BWA 2.0l engines in the older petrol vRS's used to referred in skoda literature as TFSI and when the CCZA engine based on EA888 deisgn came in it got changed to TSI but there was a period where I think even skoda literature was confused.  I wouldn't let the description worry you it is technically correctly describing the engine.

Edit: what year is your car, as that should determine which engine should of been fitted from new? If memory serving me correctly,  the CCZA should of come out in the FL version 2009.

Chain tensioner is a possible failure item on these. I can't offer a probability.  It is your call. There is heaps of information on this forum some I've added my own experience of having that done. Cost will depend on whether a) dealer or b') independent and for both options, also depend on extent of components you replace, tensioner(s), guides, rails, covers, chain(s) etc etc..  Upwards of £550 at an independent or upwards of £1,000 at a dealer is my estimate.

I don't know enough about the exhaust, it sounds possible.  Someone else will be along who's sure to know. edit: be a shame to lose the miltek though. I think they have quiter resonated as well as the non resonated versions. If yours is non resonated you could consider changing parts for the quiter version.

As you can see on the left, I have the same vehicle as you. I have asked my local independent garage who have worked on my vehicles for years, to give me a quote on renewing tensioner chains etc, just in case it goes bang one day on start up. Should get the quote very soon and will let you know.  I also have TSI on the engine cover and TFSI in the log book. By the way, you have bought a great car, I love mine.

Mine is a 2011 as well. CCZA sticker engine on timing cover.  TSI engine cover.   Nothing in the service book manual, only the option code sticker, but TFSI on the V5C.  I hadn't even noticed.   So sounds like they were all registered with that description around that time.

I had a miltek on my old petrol vrs and it was really quiet ?

do u have the two box system or the non resonated center section one box system ?

the sports cat wont make the miltek much louder at all and for the cost of miltek sports cat vs the power gains its a lot of money and you will need an s3 intercooler or after market intercooler for a proper stage 2 ,

stage 1 remap =250bhp  no other mods required,

Its 2011. Would it be any use just changing the tensioner, cover, gasket and relevant bolts. And leave the chains etc as is. After all I belive that the chain is a non serviceable item.

Perfect keep us informed bud. Yea its an ace car. So suprised how well it handles and the brakes are superb.

I had a quick look but couldnt get my massive head far enough under for a proper check. It appears to be just a straight pipe in the centre unless its a slim box which hides up in the tunnel. Ill get it jacked up soon. Yea Ill go stage 1 first. No rush tho ill enjoy the car for what it is just now :)

I have booked my car in on the 6th of September for chains, tensioner etc. Preventative maintenance really. Might as well renew the chains when it's all coming apart for the tensioner anyway, as the chains are not too much extra money. 6hrs labour, cost of full chain kit and the dreaded VAT, total £614.

Yes they do handle quite well. Have recently improved the handling on mine by fitting Bilstein B8 shocks and Superpro poly bushes on the front wishbones. It now tends to stay more level when pushed around bends. You better be careful now you have bought this car, as you will want to spend money on it, even when it does not go wrong. Hope you enjoy your purchase.

Is that through a dealer or independent. Yea I see your point. Sods law says if I dont replace the chains when its opened up ill end up having to replace them in a months time for some bizarre reason

Haha Ye I've spent countless hours making plans already. Ill have to cancel my credit card before I make purchases I can't afford

I'm the same at the moment.  I'm looking at an exhaust, remap and a different interior  - none of which I can afford!

It's at an independent garage I have used on my vehicles for a number of years. It's always good when you find an honest one. The manager will not let anybody else at his garage work on my car but him.  He knows how bloomin fussy I am!! If it was at a dealer, I am sure it would cost a hell of a lot more!

Ok so I got the car jacked up. Defo just a straight through pipe on the center section. Ill have to email a few of the local miltek suppliers and see if they can supply and fit a resonated center section.

If i may I have another question...

I have tried the search function but between the large amount of posts here and my lack of knowledge of part names i am struggling to find what I am after.

On the center console there is a little compartment with a cover that folds up. Its the one in front of the gear stick and directly below the climate controls. My issue is that the cover does not stay closed. As soon as you push it down it pops back up. Any ideas??
