Drivers door central locking

Featured Replies

The remote locking doesn't work on the drivers door ofmy new mk1 Octy VRS. The rest of the doors work fine. Anyone had the same problem? I'm wondering if it's a part could I swap it from a working door?

It's probably one of the connectors in the driver's door wiring; it's impossible to be certain which without opening the door though.

Thanks. Wing mirror on that side is also not working which probably suggests some wiring issues that side.

Yep, look for damage to the wiring harness between the A pillar and door within the rubber flexi gator.

likely the drivers door module has water ingress in the plug, common failure can sometimes be fixed with some contact cleaner if they aren't too corroded.

The main plug joining the door to the rest of the car?

Should I also be hearing a buzzer when the lights are on and I go to get out the car?

Looks as though all door electrical are kapput - central locking, puddle lamp, light buzzer (if one exists), electric wing mirror.

You should indeed get a buzzer of you open the drivers door with lights on. Are you also missing the red door open symbol on the dash display too?

 I think so yea.

There are 3 failure points.

1 the big connector into the door controller attached to the window motor.

2 the wiring in the gaiter between the door and body.

3 the connector in the car behind the trim next to the bonnet release.

Water ingress causes 1 and 3. Flexing causes 2.

Cheers guys. Will have a look tomorrow if if time allows.

I had the same problem on my passenger door, after days of looking for damaged wires I ended up changing the window motor which sorted it out

See that's weird because the electric windows is the only thing that does work...

I know, mine was exactly the same. I got one from a local breakers, it must be the same part number as the unit removed otherwise it will have to be reprogramed.
