2011 VRS Brakes

Featured Replies

I'm looking to upgrade the brakes on my 2011 vrs, does anybody know if the mk5R32 front brake set up will bolt straight on?

Thanks all

It certainly does on the front of a mk2 (2006) however you need the disc shields and brake hoses.

I used braided hoses on mine and had to alter the bracket on the back of the caliper that holds the brake hose.

I know that may not help as you have a mk3 but the brakes may well be the same.

Did you notice a big difference? guessing that would be disc shields and hoses from the r32 aswell.

For some reason I thought 2011 would be mk3.

Yeah I noticed a big difference, certainly worth the cash and I'm only using standard discs and pads so they would be even better with uprated stuff.

The shields (£9+vat) and hoses are indeed from the mk5 golf r32. I believe the front hoses are a little longer so can't really be fitted without them, standard ones would do but as I said I decided on braided ones at around £60 for all 4.

The rear braided hoses supplied in the kit will fit your standard rears if you don't upgrade them. I've not long fitted the r32 rears and not noticed much difference under normal conditions but they are a fair bit larger and vented so should be better if you are using them aggressively.

So slight change of plan & ive managed to buy some S3 calipers now, so was just wondering if the S3 hose's will fit?

Yes, s3 hoses will fit. On the back of my calipers there was a metal bracket that needed the hole enlarged to fit the banjo for the brake hose to fit through, otherwise it was a direct fit.
