As if my magic, my windscreen has cracked. Not one of the jobs i wanted to splash out £250 for but never mind!

 

I've phoned a few places and they ask if its tinted, has rain sensor and if it has an antenna built in.

 

I know its got a slight green tint and the antenna but thinking about getting a rain sensor fitted, is it something that's fairly easy to link up once ive got the mirror and windscreen fitted?

 

Also, thinking about possibly getting a heated windscreen from somewhere? 

has it been done before?

That looks good and not a bad price compared to the price of a standard one.

Do you know much about fitting them at all? 

Does the A pillars need any sort of adapting or modifying to make room for the wires etc?

 

Just thinking of any other problems i might bump into. 

Can't you claim off your insurance? Usually only a £50 or so excess.

The last time I claimed it didn't affect the NCB nor was the premium increased the following year.

Yeah i can probably claim to be honest, but id rather not.

and since im probably fitting a heated windscreen now they wont be interested.

Well the prices are in, its roughly double the cost and i need to let them know first thing tomorrow morning...

for argument sake its £200 standard and £400 heated supplied and fitted, however the heated one will still need wiring up.

 

Edit, just went to order the screen and its an extra £45 delivery also.

I know! its a disgrace the damage people do to their windscreens grinding hard platic into them as hard as they can to remove ice.

Makes me sick!

Warmish tap water works wonders also

I've worked the total cost, shipped, fitted, then wired up with the proper switches how I would want comes to over £500.

I think I'll just get standard with rain sensor and antenna and possibly add auto wipers at some point
