Dipped lights problem

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Any help greatly appreciated......

The Mrs was driving late last night on dark country roads, so she put the main beam on, when she turned it off as a car approached, the dipped lights went off too, so she had no lights at all.

This happened a couple of times, and also happened after using the indicators.

Not sure how she got them to come on again (she's not here to ask) but think it was some movement or other of the stalk, will report back once I know.

Has anyone else had anything the same/similar happen to them please, & if so, what was the solution?

Thank in advance.

Stalk is either full of crap causing a bad connection or is just wearing out/corroded.

i had same problem on my old cordoba, and its an intermittent thing on the Octy last 12months :s

Seconded on what Mac says. You can try firing contact cleaner into the dip switch followed by 10 minutes of switchaerobics but you may well need a new dip switch.

As an interim measure on an Elegance (or L&K) run with the fogs on then at least you don't lose all lighting.

Many thanks, I've ordered a new genuine indicator stalk, hopefully once fitted that'll be the end of it.

How much was it out of interest? I need to do the same to sort a problem with a clicking relay which certainly isn't a problem at the (newly replaced) relay end...
