No turbo boost

Hello Everyone.

It's good to see all VW/Skoda, etc... Members in the community. This is my first time I am posting in any Car forum. I would like to thank the community in advance and appreciate this forum.

I have a Skoda Octavia Mk2 2008 model, 1.9TDI Diesel, Manual. (Here in India its known as "Skoda Laura" type 1)

Recently I had this problem of my clutch slipping so I replaced the Flywheel+Clutch plate+pressure plate(Clutch Assembly) of SACHS.
After that
1. I got my EGR Value cleaned(by removing the throttle body and cleaning it with carburetor spray and some liquid I am not sure what they used but now it's like new and shiny.
2. Removed the MAF sensor and got it cleaned with some spray as little dust was accumulated in it(carburetor spray i believe)

My pickup has significantly increased like a new car. However, I have noticed the TURBO is not kicking in as it used to around 1500-2000 RPMs. I have to keep on accelerating for the speed to go up (above 8 l/100km)

I used a VAG409.1 OBD2 II Interface USB Diagnostic Cable Auto Car Scanner for Audi/VW installed VAG-COM Release 409-1 and was successfully able to do an AUTO-SCAN.

Here are the scan results.

Though my pick up is very good since the clutch is new I am not enjoying the ride as no Boost in Turbo, have to REV more to match the speed every time.

Do I need to change the sensors or any cleaning or refitting/reconnecting the sensors might help? Also what possible damages I have to suffer if I continue riding with the errors.

Thank you in Advance for all possible solutions.

Regards,
Vikram.
  • 7 months later...

Hi Vikram, mine is Octavia 1.9 tdi, 2007 model. I have CEL and 3 errors when scanned with OBD2. Turbo Boost Sensor circuit A low, Intake air temp high input, MAF low.

Going through briskoda, i have removed MAF and cleaned it with sensor cleaner wd40. MAF error is gone.

But boost and intake air errors remain the same. Checked intake air sensor and it is clogged with dirt. Couldn't remove it, cause of the fear of damaging it. But where's this turboo boost sensor location?

I highly recommend visiting a worthy electrician out side Skoda ASS.

The Boost pressure sensor is the MAP sensor I think.

are you aware that boost/torque starts at around 1850rpm and optimal engine output is around 2500rpm???

keep driving under 1800rpm and save lots of money for clutch and crankshaft bearing if you are lucky and your engine won't seize.

otherwise, poor boost is usually EGR/MAF combo. Since you played with both.

If you have VAG, you can carry on MAF sensor and EGR test

just quick glance...

MAP most likely dead or altitude sensor in ECU dead

it looks like every sensor is dead :-D

ECU allows boost according oil/coolant temp, altitude, MAF and so on...fuel temp is for injection correction.
