High pitch noise

Featured Replies

Hi hope some one can help, i have a 2.0 tdi octavia se and it makes a high pitch noise when on smooth tarmac it seems to be speed dependent not rpm dependent. Is very noticeable when backing of the throttle at speeds of around 60mph. The car has done 7k and im hoping its nothing serious.the tyres are contanental eco contact 5, they seem to be a very noisy tyre. Has anyone experenced this and do you think this could be tyre related. Kind regards

Is it whistle from wind noise?

This might be a posibility, i know the wing mirrors make a noise, i partialy tilted them back to see if it made a difference and it did. However this noise can be replicated on the same stretch of road, its ultra smooth, the tyres are so loud on normal surface i dont hear it.

The vents can make an annoying high pitch noise too - try adjusting these to see if it comes from there - try turning the climatronic off entirely in the menu too.

I have had the high pitch noise from other places than the vents, some say it's the area where the windshield meets the body/roof. Don't know if anyone can confirm that? Sounds almost like a whistling sound.

I seem to be getting a whistling nose from the tip of the passenger windscreen wiper (right hand drive car), happens as soon as I hit 100 kph.  If I wipe, it goes away............ for a while.

Has anyone else had this and is there a permanent solution?

Cheers

This plastic thingy can make weird noises, similar to wind noise and it starts at 100 kph.

Probably it starts vibrating.

I don't have this issue but once I had a courtesy car with this problem.

Some bending helped in my case...

(To check if this is your problem just apply some insulating tape on it.)

Thanks.  The trailing edge is unattached.  I will try fixing it.
