My last car would display a stable MPG figure, only changing every few trips.

 

My Fabia on the other hand has 2 MPG readings, 1 changes every second and the other changing every 10 seconds or so. I'm guessing that the latter is the one i should be paying attention to but it fluctuates quite a lot ranging from ~30mpg - ~75mpg on a 16 mile trip.

 

Does that sound right?

One mpg figure is actual as you are driving the other is average mpg for the journey.

You have instant MPG reading and 2 averages. 1 average resets itself when the car is not driven for a few hours and the other keep on averaging until you reset it. The two averages have a number on each screen so you know which one is which

Hi, it's still early days for you and the car to get ' use ' to each other, once you get the feel of the car and engine I would expect you to get mid 50s mpg, as long as you are reasonable gentle with your fight foot, I think the best I got from my mk11 Fabia from n Yorks to south Bucks was 63.9 and about 62 on way back and that includes the infamous M25 ......

Incidentally I managed 68 ish return trip in the mk1 ( same journey ) and my wife can often get 70+ mpg over a 40 mile round trip and she certainly don't drive like your granny........

Great engine the 1.9 tdi keep the oil and filter changed min every 10k miles, ours in once a year approx 7k ( main reason to keep both our 1.9's our annual mileage would poss cause issues with a dpf ) and I prefer driving a diesel and compared to my works van both skoda's are reasonable quite
