Hi guy girls well here we are again still love my car but now its scaring me

the other day i added the exstra wire for auto lights dint do codeing as it all started working as it shuld the min i tryed it

Now 1 hour after i was driveing my car and engine management light came on  my ges was oh its because the auto lights not coded with vag yet

i ges i might be wrong there as now 2 days later if i preses brake pedal more than one or twice in  the same sew moments my pedal goes rock hard and all most no brakes :peek:

 

So my  questions is could it be related to  me adding the auto  wire or is it coincedence that the management light has come on with a entily non related fault on my car  any help or thoughts  will be all good ones guys as no brake or brake failing is not fun

Could be a trapped vacuum tube under the bonnet if you've been moving / removing things to install the wire.  I had similar when I replaced a burst turbo hose - on reassembly we'd managed to trap a vacuum hose causing similar symptom to yours

As above - sounds like loss of vacuum which provides servo assistance to the brakes. Check the vacuum pipes for traps, kinks and splits.

 

Similar thing happened to my Octavia not long after I got it and it turned out to be a split vacuum hose on one of the joins.

Ah i best look tomorrow then at the pipes the wire i did was inside the car  had to add a wire to auto light switch so dint touch the bonnet any idears were ill find the vacum pipes ??

Vacuum pipes go from the brake servo to the tandem pump on the end of the engine.

Look for the brake booster/servo (driver's side back of the engine bay) and go from there.

On mine the pipe that was split was made of a hard plastic.

Hi all a up Date well you was  all right it was a vacume pipe the big pipe that comes off the pump has a smaller pipe comes from it and  goes the vacume block its snaped off havent got a clue what to ask for at scoda to me its a kinda T peice but its round its the shortest pipe from the block any idears what this part maybe called im thinking it might be a one way  Valve maybe

 

i know i shuld of tooka pic if i get no help from Skoda today ill add a picy of the part here fingers cross its a easy part to get lol

Hi ok a update  ive fixed the problem  2 calls to breakes no responce called Skoda started talking teliphone numbers for the part ect so out came the aradite anbd its all fixed saved myself a bundle

and as i was advise the engine managment light has gone out by its self  Phew

all sorted so problem solved thanks guys for the pointers it helped a lot

I would persist with Skoda to get a replacement though in case your araldite fails or the pipe splits in another place. Probably better to visit in person so you can show them which part you need.

I would advise against the use of araldite for such a repair. It cures quite brittle and unless you have properly keyed the surfaces it will just simply crack and flake off in time. It does not tolerate temperature changes and flexing never mind the environment of an engine bay. It also goes powdery with exposure to moisture, all a recipe for sudden failure and far more expensive damage to your engine if bits get drawn into the vaccuum pump.

A much better and safer cheap fix is to wrap tightly with self amalgamating tape.

The pipe should be throughly cleaned and degreased with something brake cleaner before applying a repair - engine off of course!
