Has anyone painted their bump strips?

Featured Replies

I am thinking of colour coding the black bump strips that circumference the car Octavia II pre-FL.

I can't find any examples of this done apart from the VRS and sport models.

Has this been done before? Is plain removal an option? Any tips?

It has been discussed quite a bit on here but not many people have done it.

One of the biggest eyesores on the pre-FL was the black rubbing strips on the doors and bumpers...

Someone here did do it. Painted bumper ones and removed door ones. I keep meaning to do mine and just one of those jobs I've not got round too

The black rubbing strips have nobblies all over them so it will be hard to get a good smooth finish. I bought some body colour strips in primer off eBay and got them painted properly. Cost £35 for the rubbing strips but as I was getting the bumper re-sprayed I had them all done together so no idea how much to spray them soz.

I think the best solution is to source some facelift door rubbing strips as these are body colour coded - something I'd overlooked until remembering my Dad's estate...

Then I can tackle the bumpers as a bigger job, maybe replacing the entire bumpers.

I must be one of the few -- I have a preFL estate with the black strips, and a FL hatch, with the body coloured strips. Personally I think the black look better........

I don't mind the black just hate trying to keep them clean. I have some AG bumper gel that I use of them but once the car gets dirty they make the car look tired.
