VRs towbar

Featured Replies

Can anyone guide me, north west wise (Manc/L'pool kind of areas), to specialist towbar fitting?

Ideally I would like detachable as the glorious meteor grey VRs doesn't deserve to be burdened with one full time!

Do I need to go main dealer? Will warranty etc still be valid out of main dealer?

Completely new world to me this and all help/advice would be very gratefully received.

TIA, Scotty

As per other threads.

I can recommend Chester Towbars - CH1 4QL for location, and website is chestertowbars.co.uk, but might be at the southern extremity of the NW for you. Skoda approved, removable swan-neck by Westfalia, fitted and coded for under £500. I've had two done - my previous 1.4 and now my vRS.Westfalia do a model-specific kit. Mitchell's send cars to CT if you want a towbar fitted. Takes around half a day, IIRC. Retail park around 25 mins walk away, some places to eat there but no pub.

Effect on warranty is irrelevant, you're not fitting a tuning box, etc.

Other places will charge in the same range, between £400 and £500 for a removable bar. Some Briskodans have done DIY, obviously with some saving in cost - around £150/200, depending on kit.

Lots of other threads on this like these. or do a quick search and have a browse it will give you all the background you need

In short just make sure you use proper electrics (OEM loom or at least 'dedicated' electrics) and the car is coded properly. PF Jones are well respected but have not tried their fitting service personally
