Radio Signal Booster Required ?

Featured Replies

I purchased and installed a Skoda Octavia (2004 - 2011) Android 4.4 8" A6703 from Icebox Audio however the radio signal is very poor.

Does the Pre-FL vRS require a signal booster ?

And if so has anyone installed one with an android head unit which has improved the quality ?

As above. You can get a power injector -designed for retrofitting an aftermarket radio in to a VW group car that replicates the phantom power supplied by the origional head unit.

Something like this if your car has 1 aerial feed:

Or this, if it has 2 (diversity function):

You'll need to connect the blue wire to a 12V switched live-there's usually a red wire coming out of the harness adaptor supplied with new radios for this (check to make sure!) - if not run it down to the fuse box and piggyback the rear wiper fuse again eBay for 'piggy back fuse' they come in standard and mini size so make sure you get the right one - don't forget that you will need to put 2 fuses in the piggy back

I've got one of those fitted but it seems to make the radio reception worse.

Have you checked that it is definitely getting supplied 12V?

No I haven't but I can get it checked.
