I am hoping to buy a Fabia VRS in April but noticed the announcement in your pages about the new 2006 models. The Fabia VRS is not mentioned, just the Fabia RS sports model so is it better going for the RS version rather than the VRS? Perhaps there will be a better deal on the old model so any suggestions welcome!

They're different cars entirely -

vRS -> turbodiesel, 130 bhp, 6 speed, can go fast and frugal

Sport -> petrol, 1.2 for the more recent version. about half the bhp of the vRS, nowhere near as fast, 5 speed.

The Sport is basically a standard Fabia 1.2 with a vRS bumper kit, and a few other nice things, such as vRS style seats but in a darker colour, and IIRC the electric windows etc.

The Sport is more intended for a driver that can either not afford a more powerful car, or wants a nice® looking bodykit for the shorter runs etc.

The vRS is getting a little older now, as a model, but it still does very well
