car stereo installation

Featured Replies

Hi everybody, i have a Skoda fabia 16v SW 75bhp, and i want to install a new car stereo, I dunno how to change the lead (red and yellow) for permanent and switched power supply. In stereo instruction there are 3 type of option (2 with both leads and one for car without ACC) i dunno what type of schema to choose.

Thanks in advance

Many new stereos will have bullet connectors on the wiring loom that lets you swap the permanent and switched live over without touching the car's wiring.

If you don't have this then you can just cut the wires on the new loom and use screw connectors to rejoin them

Yes, there are, i read a lot of posts and i think i have just to switch red and yellow wire (just using the radio cable as you said above)and then put in my radio and listen to music. is it right?

Yeah, if you just swap the red and yellow wires over you'll be fine. At the end of the day, if you didn't do this the stereo would work fine, it'd just lose all the presets when you turn the ignition off. Wouldn't cause any damage to the car or the stereo.
