Hello all,

 

Can anyone shed some light on this one. The other day after the car restarted from stop/start an error and yellow ! symbol appeared on the display. On the picture it have the steering column in yellow on the info screen. It said something along the lines for ignition or starter failure take straight to dealership.

 

I pulled over and not wanting to get stranded to far from home switched off and tried to restart........car started and fault/warning went. I was confused.

 

Ran a scan on VCDS and it came back with these two errors.

2 Faults Found:
263442 - Siren / Alarm Horn for Anti-Theft Alarm System 
          B131D F7 [008] - No Release by Immobilizer
          Intermittent - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear
             Freeze Frame:
                    Fault Status: 00000001
                    Fault Priority: 2
                    Fault Frequency: 1
                    Reset counter: 172
                    Mileage: 19451 km
                    Date: 2016.09.02
                    Time: 16:05:45

139528 - Control Relay for Terminal 15 Load 
          B12E6 11 [008] - Short to Ground
          Intermittent - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear
             Freeze Frame:
                    Fault Status: 00000001
                    Fault Priority: 2
                    Fault Frequency: 1
                    Reset counter: 172
                    Mileage: 19418 km
                    Date: 2016.09.02
                    Time: 13:34:00

Anyone have any idea what caused it and do I need to take the car in to the garage (it's a pain to arrange time to do this).

I would take it in if its under warranty and let them do some checks, can't lose anything.

 

Or just clear the faults and see how it goes.

I've had this sporadic fault before but could not reproduce it. I dare say a "software fix" will be the end fix but nothing is available as of yet.

I'll see if I can pop it in the garage when I'm off work next.

This is the error causing the warning: 139528 - Control Relay for Terminal 15 Load

Terminal 15 is the reference for Key Position 2 (Ignition On).

 

As James said it could just be a misdiagnosed fault requiring a software/calibration update.

 

However, it could be a sign that the relay which controls the power to the ECU is on its way out.
