Standard airbox and intake question.

Featured Replies

Hello all something has been on my mind.

I have a standard Fabia vrs 2006.

Does the standard intake let water in?

I can see there is a little lip on the slam panel but is this sufficient enough to stop water from going down the intake pipe to the air-box?

It got me thinking as on Friday was driving in heavy rain and spray would water go into the air box?

I know I am probably over thinking it just don't want it to break like my last car.

I have become paranoid as I had hydro lock with my civic with the filter being exposed to the elements.

Many thanks for any imput and putting my mind at rest.

Suggest you don't drive across rivers but rain and spray won't hurt.

If your talking about the main air-intake scoop fitted just behind the grill then look carefully at it from the outside with the bonnet open.

You will notice the moulding has an open section below the main air-intake feed.

I guess the open section allows water to go thru the open slot and into engine bay, and not into the main air-way to the air box ?

Many thanks for the posts guys.

Does put my mind at rest I did have a good look at it and can see that there is a lip to stop water and if water did go in there are drain holes at the bottom of the airbox which I didn't know where there.
