Tools to remove head unit?

Featured Replies

Where can I get the required tools (keys?) to remove the Amundsen head unit on my Mk3 Octavia? Someone suggested a set from ebay but I understand they are of poor quality and could scratch the unit. Also I can't find any instructions on Briskoda on how to use the tools; I'd be very grateful for comments - thanks.

Not 100% sure they are the same tools used to remove earlier VAG head units, but if they are go for the ones with plastic coated rings where your fingers go through (unless you like the sight of your own blood).

The part number for a pair of them is 4D0 051 530.

the mk2 you just unclipped the facia from the center console which allowed access to remove plastic covers on the headunit which have torx screws under them. Once they are remove it just slides out.

The best tool you can buy is a torx bit kit

I'm sure this doesn't work on the Mk3. There are two small slots on both the top and bottom of the unit into which you insert some sort of flat bladed key.

Sounds like you'd need to get a tool from skoda then

Which is the keys I mentioned in my earlier post.

OK - thanks for that.
