Are the front and rear motors on a mk1 vrs estate interchangeable ?

Don't think so - search on eBay to find a replacement if needed - should be able to find one at a reasonable price

no they are not. they have different length cables for the different size windows.

When you say different length cables are you referring to the regulator ? I'm asking specifically about the motor that drives the regulator ?

According to ETKA they all have different part numbers, so although they may physically fit to the regulator, I would presume the control modules are different
