1.6 TDI which air filter

Featured Replies

Has anyone on here got any experience with an indication kit / cold air feed/ custom air box with the 1.6 TDI engine?

I guess the airbox is good enough having a cone type air filter as standard but the cold air feed is rather small so not sure if there's any alternatives?

EDIT:

Induction kit sorted, now need air filter!

I've changed pipe and scoop to vrs stuff not a great fit but with a little fetling and a screw or two it does the the trick

Just had a quick look and seems around £100 + for one.

I'd love the VW Racing one but at around £350 it's a little steep with little gain.

Right, I've sorted an induction kit that lets me keep the standard airbox. So now I need an air filter!

It's got a standard crosslands filter in from euro car parts currently so plan on changing that. My options are...

Standard Bosch filter - £20

K&N filter - £50

Pipercross filter - £60

All 3 are the same fitment and go in the standard airbox. My worry is dirt will still pass through the k&n and pipercross hence the mention of a new standard filter but a good quality Bosch one.

Then I'm thinking dirt will be minimal since they are fitted in the standard airbox that I'll be keeping ontop of regularly anyway!

Last thing I want is to damage the Turbo not long after I fit it!

I'm running k&n filter with vrs pipes from grille back to airbox and its remapped to 130 bhp

Yep perfect fit and I got a k&n cleaning kit too
