VIN and vehicle data

Featured Replies

Please can someone tell me the website(s) to interpret the VIN and/or the "vehicle data sticker" that's inside the front cover of the service record?

I'm looking to see what extras were fitted on my vRS when it left the factory (I didn't buy it new). I know about the service interval code in the data sticker, thanks, and yes, I know I can tell what's actualy fitted by looking, but I just want to compare the records with the actual car.

I'm sure some helpful Briskodians have already posted weblinks or a list of data codes, but having just spent forty minutes trawing through posts I'm blowed if I can find anything (I've found a couple of websites that give brief details from the VIN, but all I've seen want money to give any detailed info).

Thanks in advance.

Try that, or go to your helpful dealer and they should be able to get a printout of all the build codes and relative data for the car. The 3 digit codes on the data sticker are just a sample of what makes up your car, when it is being built the build sheet could show over 200 codes.

Thanks chaps. Both very useful. The igorweb site was one of the ones I'd seen before but forgotten, and the VAG option code list looks very helpful.

Wino, I might have a look at the erWin site too, 7 euros is Ok if it gives a lot of info. Keep my inner geek happy.

Just post a couple of interior and external pictures, we'll soon tell you what is fitted over and above standard  :D

Y'know, I knew there'd be an easy way.

OK - here's a question to keep you busy.

Sunset glass was an option on the vRS (at least on MY15). Is it just a darker tint on the rear windows and hatch? Or was a darker rear tint standard anyway, and the Sunset glass even darker?

(OK, that's two and a half questions.)

Yes, all MkIII Octavia's get 'tinted glass', which is barely noticeable.

The 'Sunset Glass' is a darker tint (much more noticeable) but is only applied from the passenger rears doors (B pillar) backwards.

It is standard on the vRS 230 (hatch and estate) and the L&K and Scout (estate only). It is a factory option on all models except the 'S'.
