Odd Rumble Rattle @ 2000 rpm

Featured Replies

Hi

Any else with a 2.0L 150 TDI Elegance (mines an estate) new build in August 2014, that has a similar -

Rumble Rattle (somewhere though hard to be specific - by the drivers door) that only happens when in 1st or 2nd gear close to 2000 rpm - pulling away or slowing down especially

Sounds something like a pipe hitting body work

Its not there at any other time

Quite noticeable hence the posting as it been there oh for a few weeks and is now annoying and before I submit myself to a drawn out process at the dealer I thought I check with you

Fuelline under the car.

Second that, fuel line rattle is the most probable culprit. Can be easily done yourself if you wish.

Good call guys, quite common.

Hi Guys

Anyone got an image to help identify the where I should be looking as under my car nothing is visible as the underside of both passenger and drivers sides is clad in moulded plastic sheets running fore and aft

Ta

It would be under the driver's side (RHD car). You need to remove the large black plastic covering. The line itself is located inside a channel, there are two lines. If you google Golf GTi mk7 fuel line rattle, it should give you a very good picture.

For me this was the fuel line - got the dealer to fix it...took them an hour while I waited.

Same symptoms as you - at almost exactly 2k rpm there was a rattle/vibration under the driver door...and only at that RPM.

Yes go to the dealer. They injected foam in mine, solved the rattle

Hi Folks

Thanks for your insights - it helped in a speedy fix as Car back from Dealer

Fuel lines had fallen out of the metal trunking that runs the length of the drivers side

Silent Running now :-)

Cheers
