Briskoda is useful...

Spotted a lady near the A46 with bonnet raised on a slate grey 65 reg VRS estate as I was strolling along today, my curiosity got the better of me and I walked across and asked her what could be wrong, (Because Skodas are perfect...JD Power winners etc) She had stopped because of the fans switching on, lots of heat and a funny smell. "Don't worry it's a regen because of the DPF and when questioned, Like a Professional, I broke it down to Diesel Particulate Filter like a true TDI owner, even though I have never owned a car which performs this magical trick. She had bought the car recently and is going on holiday tomorrow so was reassured and cheerfully relieved, she declared me a knight in shining armour. So take a bow TDI ???????????? owners for sharing the knowledge. ????????????

Was she cute......... :notme:

Yes the car was very cute...

Hope she was driving a diesel in that case  :D

Definitely a diesel, unless the water pump was leaking and I've ignorantly let someone blow their new engine...

My wife's 13 plate Fiesta was the first car we've had with a DPF.

I came home from work one night and she announced "there's something wrong with my car".  Upon questioning she stated that "it smells funny and the engine's making a noise".

I have to confess to having to Google the solution - nothing was mentioned to her upon handover about DPFs and my Focus CC didn't have a DPF so the problem was new to me.

If you've never experienced a regen, it can be quite alarming.

It's nice to be nice, good job.

This is great to hear about.

It's just a shame that the salesperson who sold her the car failed to share any info on the dpf and they neglected to have a gander in the owners manual.

I think James that she was far too distracted to read through the manual and without being patronising to her, she was simply relieved to know that it wasn't a serious fault on her new car.

I can appreciate that which is why I mentioned about her selling agent. It's a common occurrence that she could have been informed of at the point of sale but it's taken her a moment of distress then luckily a decent and clued up person (your good self) has appeared and helped out :)
