Tyre prep

Featured Replies

What products n methods do you use to really clean and strip the tyres of contaminants and old dressing etc? Clearly they will be partly cleaned during the general wash and decon process but I'm talking about a stage further so as to get the best from future tyre dressing. Has anyone used white spirit of IPA for example or would long term use damage the rubber?

I use Megs APC and a scrubbing brush. White spirit and IPA would dry the rubber out prematurely, so would steer clear of those on your tyres. I think it's just one of those things that tyre dressings don't last that long unfortunately.

Is the APC neat as it were or diluted? Depends on the state of the tyres I gues?!

I go diluted at around 5:1 water to product buddy.

Thanks, will look into this more.

I'm with Hunty - i use Meg's APC on my cars tyres generally.

Although - when i get a real tough case in - i use AD Britegel

on the wheels and tyres to make some progress.

That said - there are some interesting products coming to the UK soon.

One that my good mate Shaun recommends is from Adam's...
