Extended Warranty

Featured Replies

When I purchased my car new at the end of May, I paid for 2 years extended warranty. No paperwork from Skoda has been forthcoming to confirm they have received and registered this. Having chased the dealer, I have had a variety of answers, starting with 'they will post to me in the next few days' to more recently 'these are processed by Skoda in batches and can take 6 months to be registered'. I thought I'd try Skoda Customer Services, sadly they are not much use, rather than enquire internally within Skoda UK as I hoped they would, they just phoned the dealer and repeated what he told me.

So, can I ask, did any of you in the UK purchase the extended warranty with your new car. If so, what paperwork to confirm this did you receive and how long did it take to arrive. If the paperwork has some contact details of the relevant dept within Skoda I'd appreciate that even more :)

Thanks

Call the Dealership & ask for the Dealer Principal or the Finance Director and ask them to send you a copy of your invoice showing that you paid the 2 year warranty extension

and confirm by Email you have a 2 Year Warranty extension.

& ask them when you receive the paperwork and from whom.

The dealer is hopeless, answers they give me seem mostly to fob me off. Hence my request on here for info on what comes from Skoda and when, although judging by the lack of replies perhaps I was in a minority of one in purchasing the extended warranty though :)

It is a legal and financial contract an Insurance Policy so best not let them put off.

Enough owners over the years have found their Extended Warranties were not on the System.

Best get a Customer Services Manager / Communications manager @ Skoda UK to call you back, they can confirm in writing what you are being told by muppets currently.

You're not alone, I also purchased the Extended Warranty, last September....5 years/100k miles. I have a Dealer receipt for the payment but no formal paperwork....but have not checked in the car wallet. However, recently had the first service and the paperwork clearly shows the 5 years/100k miles/2020 end date for the warranty, so it is definitely on the system. Ask your dealer to check the system...it should be on there...the only place it needs to be....and get a print of it for your peace of mind. Take no prisoners. If your dealer won't play......ask another one to look at the system.

That is useful alltorque, thanks. Although unfortunately the Skoda Customer Services person I have been in contact with did check the system, and told me the warranty only shows as up to 2019- so standard 3 years. However rather than investigate further- as he didn't know the system, he called the dealer and got told the same answer as me, which the dealer had already told me.

Maybe it does actually take 6 months to be registered on the system, just doesn't seem right to me- surely just involves changing a date on a computer somewhere in Skoda/VW Towers? Plus I have been given various other bits of mis-information from this dealer (easily worst I have come across when buying new cars from several different marques over the years) so I have a healthy distrust of anything they tell me!

Better still ask a different dealer to check the system
