Overboost with no fault code

Recommended Posts

As per title, this question is bugging me and I am requestingpost-131095-0-57635400-1475111601_thumb.jpg the help of a wider and far more knowledgeable audience.

Of all the likely causes of an overboost problem (as per attached) which would not show as a fault on VCDS? Thanks.

If you do the log in higher gear and uphill it will through a fault code for you. I think there is 5 seconds limit before limp mode is triggered (and fault logged) so on flat in 3rd gear you get over the overboost too quickly. But get it sorted as it will kill the turbo sooner or later.

Lad was very helpful, insisted it is not the map, he has had it checked and double checked. Suggests that it is either a boost leak or a waste gate actuator problem, and that the way forward is to put it on a dyno and do a smoke test. I suspect that will also include the vcds check that dara85 suggests to help find the fault, saving me the hassle of doing another turbo log. So that's the way I'm probably going to go, just need to find a good place to get such a job done.
