Octavia D1s Xenon bulb replacement

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I was looking at the pinned post on changing Octavia headlight bulbs, wonderful bit of work, and it says that basically changing Halogens or Xenon you follow the same route is this correct .... The only thing I couldn't see any mention of is the flat black paddle next to the lug you pull is it necessary to push this down or up prior to or during pulling the release lug....

I've been looking on line for replacement bulbs and the Superskoda site are doing genuine bulbs for €49.99 which seems reasonable but they also say they should be replace every 1 1/2 years to maintain optimum light output .... Surely this is excessive on bulbs that last anything up 8-9 years or more .... I've a fair bit of history with my car but no record of a bulb changed and could believe it's still running originals ... They seem fine just not as bright as some Xenon equipped cars I've been in recently..

Looking through searches on Google, most if not all returning here, it's been quoted that changing up from 4300k to 4800 or 5000K will give a brighter white light .... Since most of these posts are at least 7-10 years old is there any update on the arguement for or against this upgrade ... The only thing I've seen confirmed is not to go above a 35W rated bulb....

Regards

Peter

The procedure to remove the headlight from the car is same for both.

If the original bulbs are more than 8-10 years old it worth replaced them for improved light as they do deteriorate over time.

Try hids direct they do osram d1s graded bulbs for £75 a pair or if you want an upgrade you could try osram night breakers or CBIs. Best to buy direct from companies that have websites rather from eBay as there are lots of fakes on eBay
