1.6 TDI Camshaft sensor location ? urgent

Featured Replies

Hi, I bought a tmc tuning box and the instructions that they sent were from what i believe to be the 2.0 tdi, which the sensor is in the middle of the engine.

Does anyone know where is it in the 1.6 TDI CAYC engine ?

Also does anyone know where the boost pressure sensor is ?

thank you.

i managed to locate it, it's inside the timing belt cover, the sensor i mean, the plug is under the intake manifold and it was really really hard to plug both cables but i managed.

Now there's the boost pressure sensor left which i can't find. can you help me ?

No that's a solenoid not a sensor.

Do you know where it is ?

The actual sensor is just beside the camshaft sprocket on the left of the engine by the timing belt, the wire comes through the casing to the front of the engine?

Here's mine when I did the timing belt, I've marked it red on here for you.

The boost pressure sensor (map sensor?) is located on the bottom boost pipe before it twists up and goes up the front of the engine to the inlet manifold

I've marked this one from when I changed my intercooler, can just see the plug and sensor

Found it! Thanks for the help.

Now about the box, I'm kinda of sad because it's not what I expected, yes it does make a difference, 2nd gear pulls harder and 3rd but 4th and 5th it's almost the same. People said oh it's night and day difference, it transformed the car, this is what the car should be from factory. Well to be honest it's really not night and day difference for me, I was expecting some "glued to the seat" feeling (google translator). Don't know if the ECU needs some more time to get used to it and make it even better or if it's just that.

If a remap feels like this then I prefer to stay with the tuning box and leave the ECU untouched since I never liked the idea of removing it to unlock.

I hear and read plenty saying their Remap is Night & Day and worth every penny.

Cant say the same about hearing or reading anyone being blown away with a TMC Tuning box on a 1.6 TDI CR

?

Is it new from TMC?  You can get a refund can you not?

Same as above tbh!

Yes, there's not many people on the internet with this box on a 1.6 tdi but i remember seeing a print from a dyno of this engine with the tmc box making 136hp so it's a similar quote to a remap.

Yes, it is new from TMC, I have 30 day money back guarantee. But even if I'm not totally satisfied with the box, maybe I expected too much from it, I will keep it, because the car is still on warranty and I'm still waiting for the recall about vw emissions.
