Question about Switchover from Km to Miles

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

This is actually my first post on this forum so a big "Hello" to you all from me. :)

I'm British but currently living in Melbourne, Australia. I've owned a 2008 Octavia Ambiente hatchback since 2013 - the 1.9Tdi variant. I'm currently making some initial preparations to return to the UK before Christmas, and selling this car was going to be one of them. However...

This Octavia is manual transmission and something like 60% of Australia's population can only cope with driving automatics. I've had the car advertised for sale for two months and had only one potential buyer in this time. I'm now starting to look at other options from wholesaling the car to shipping it back to the UK (around £2000). The chances are that I will not ship it, but given it's only done just over 60,000 miles I'm now giving it some serious thought. Just trying to figure out likely additional costs if it ever ends up back in Blighty.

One obvious cost would be that of switching the speedometer back to mph from kph. Currently, everything on this car is calibrated in kilometres - Aussie standard. Do any of you have any idea of the likely cost of doing this and what exactly would be involved (Dash Off seems kind of obvious)?

Thanks in advance for any help.

James

you will need to fit a MPH speedo or use a conversion foil

used clusters are cheap to find on ebay or breakers

You would need a someone to code it to the car
