Washed and polished today ....

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

I've decided to bite the bullet and have an attempt at washing and polishing the car myself as although my local car wash are a lot better than most they're still not perfect ....

I used Deamon Snow Foam to remove the worst of the work with a hose... Pretty useless but removed the worst of the crap, then washed her with Autoglym Bodywork Shamo using a sheepskin mitt from Halfords and a separate rinse bucket ... Just normal buckets so no grit guards ... The wheels where cleaned with Deamon Wheel Cleaner and washed with a separate bucket and microfibres sponge ... I p

Car was dried with microfibre towels and I used greased lightning waterless wash on the paintwork to apply a light layer of wax to it and buffed up using thick fluffy microfibre towel, the Windows where cleaned with greased lightning glass cleaner and the windscreen given a going over with Rain-x glass cleaner .... Tyres where just sprayed with Tesco wet look tyre shine ....

I just need to find another decent vacuum for the interior as our Gtech multi bit the dust and we opted for a refund rather than repair ... I know she's not up to the standards of anyone on here but I'm really pleased with the result and after another 3 washes I've recouped my costs ....

Good to hear! Looks great buddy!

Looks really good mate ;) a great effort & greased lightning works well, I use to use SSGL & always used it after a proper shampoo & rinse wash & my van at the time (black) always looked like a mirror finish, don't get me wrong a proper polish & wax is always going to be the route to go down but saying that, it also at times can hurt your pocket, something's are best left simple ;)

Thanks Hunty and Batvanvrs ....

My wife seen the greased lightning on QVC and bought some for me ... I doubt I'd ever use it as a full waterless wash on a filthy car no matter what they say. However I leave a bottle and some microfibre clothes in the car as its great for taking off bird poo etc and it does make a brilliant quick detailer and puts a lovely shine and at least a bit of wax protection on the car ... I'd every intention today of buying some polish or wax today but although I was only in my local Halfords there was so much to choose from I just couldn't make up my mind

Cracking results there!  Makes it look much newer than it is, spot on!
