Coolant Capacity 1.6 Petrol

Featured Replies

Hi all, I've given the coolant system an overhaul (new thermostat, both temperature sensors). I've looked in the owners manual and Skoda recommend G12 red antifreeze at 40% to give protection down to -25C but it does not give the capacity so I don't know how much I will need. Anybody any ideas in litres as I don't have the measuring device (hydrometer?).

Total capacity is 6.3L according to Autodata and G12 has been superceeded by G13 Purple

Hi Nige, thanks for the reply. I'm guessing but will check that G13 is compatible with the remnants of what came out of the engine when I took the thermostat housing off as this was not a complete drain. The coolant that came out was red (with a tinge of brown [rust?]) so I'm guessing that was red G12. Should I go for another flush to be sure?

It is backward compatible with G12 Red but I would flush with clean water to get rid of any further "rusty" water :)

ECP sell G13 ready mixed
