Intermittent turbo fault

Featured Replies

I have a issue with my turbo. Some days I have full boost all day long no issues at all.Other days it does not come on full boost at all.

Then when I switch off the car and switch it back on I have full boost.

However this is not consistent and ie switching it on and off and it working on full boost.

Took it to a few garages and they are saying the turbo is gone if that is the case why does it work on a good day ?

I think it's a electrical or sensor issue but need someone that knows what they are doing to look at the car and fix the problem.

I'm based in Birmingham and ideally want someone local to take it to.

Or if anyone on here can guide me on how to fix the issue.

Cheers

I had this similar problem with my octavia mk2 and was a small split in diafragme waste gate actuator so if you got a vaccum pump remove the hose to the actuator and connect your vaccum pump 0.5 bar that should open and stay open if doesn't need replace. Wires could be the problem if the test that you do come back OK.

B11BOB,   what age of vRS, how many miles has it done.

EDIT.

IS THIS A MK2 FABIA vRS, or meant for the MK1 Section?

Do you have engine lights, the EPC or the Exhaust Emissions Control Engine light, or both?

Sounds like it just goes into Limp Mode which can cut 2 cylinders or inhibit the turbo if misfires are detected.

Have the Fault Codes been read, have the spark plugs been checked and replaced if required.

Have any sensors been checked.  The Fuel Filter replaced if required etc etc

(See the Pinned Spark Plug thread at the top of the page.)

Codes showing may be

P0 303 Cylinder misfire

P0 FDC

P0FD3

Do not go to garages or mechanics that know nothing about Twincharge Engines and how the Supercharger & Turbo Operate or the

issues they can have. Spark plugs, fuel, and Intake / Breather Pipes cause the common lack of boost faults.

Turbo Failure of a Twincharger is very very rare and usually comes with engine failure.

I can read the codes and have a look if you can get over to Coventry at some point.
