What does the button on the key do?

Featured Replies

The key has one button with a bulb of some kind above the key blade itself (the key isn't of the folding type you usually see). My brother said it was originally a light so that you can see the keyhole in the dark. But my car has central locking (I believe so at least, I lock/unlock one door with the key and all the others get locked unlocked as well). So I am stuck wondering what the button on the key is for (I did change the battery as well, didn't really help).

I'd post a picture but I don't know how to do so (+ I doubt I've been a member long enough to be able to post pics yet).

The button is for the key torch. Your car might well have central door locking but no remote.

Thanks, does anybody know what kind of lightbulb goes in the key? And if there's a LED replacement for the bulb available? Any links to order a new bulb or replacement LED for it would be really appreciated.

Also, could one add a remote and if so how much would it cost? Are there keys with both the torch and remote built in? I am not too keen on carrying both the key and remote as separate units (but would like the torch).

Thanks again for the help.
