Radiator mounts - not removing bumper. Yes I have searched!

Featured Replies

Afternoon all,

Just picked up an Octavia vRS Mk1

I've had a search and have seen that radiator mounts are troublesome and result in squeaking, just like mine is.

Now as you know the culprit is NS lower, I've seen you can replace these, but all for now what I need is a temp fix.

How are people getting to their lower mount to put in pipe cladding etc?

I don't seem to have any decent access to get into the lower mount.

Help please, as the car is great except for sounding like a London cab squeaking away!

Jamie.

Personally I just drill a 5mm hole in the bottom of the radiator panel from underneath and hook through a cable tie. Stops it moving and this squeaking.

I can't exactly remember what I did now, but I'm pretty sure I had already removed the undertray and then wedged some standard garden hose pipe underneath the radiator. This stopped it moving and the annoying squeak/clunk went away. Been fine for a year and a half now and I believe I read that even if you replace the mounts they fail again anyway!
