Developed a rattle

Featured Replies

My 15 plate Citigo has developed a rattle over the last few days that seems to be coming from the front of the car. It occurs when lifting off the clutch when changing gear below 2000rpm. I'm not very mechanically minded, so any idea what it is? Thinking something has come loose.

Car has done 15,000 miles and was serviced earlier this year and given the all clear so wouldn't expect anything major to go wrong. Car has a warranty but obviously not sure what's causing this.

Heat shield round gearbox/back of engine?

Heat shield round gearbox/back of engine?

I concur. I've had this on a couple of cars, especially noticeable at low revs. Mine was down to corrosion around the fixing bolts allowing too much movement of the shield.

Thanks for the replies, had it in yesterday and it was indeed the exhaust tunnel heat shield.

Had mine in yesterday, heat shield replaced(I didn't think it was the problem noise anyway)but the rattling back again from cold this morning. Stops once clutch pedal is pressed, searched threads on here seems likemine has this common problem now it's got a few miles on. Did anyone get a successful result from dealer while under warranty? I only got 3 months warranty left.

Mine still has a slight rattle but not as noticeable. Will mention it at the next service if it doesn't get worse.

Ideally would like it fixed completely.
